The economy of Croatia is strongly influenced by the industrial and service sectors, and agriculture. Croatia is also ranked among the top 20 most popular tourist destinations in the world.
Situated in Central and Southeast Europe, Croatia is bordered by Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the southeast, Montenegro to the southeast, the Adriatic Sea to the southwest, and Slovenia to the northwest.
There are four types of biogeographical regions in Croatia: Mediterranean, Alpine, Pannonian and Continental. Croatia can also be subdivided between several ecoregions because of the geomorphology and climate. The country has a rich biodiversity with 37,0000 known species.
Croatia experiences a relatively warm and rainy continental climate. The coldest parts of the country are Gorski Kotar and Lika with a snowy-forested climate. The warmest areas in Croatia are along the Adriatic Coast with a Mediterranean climate.
There is no official religion in Croatia and freedom of religion is a right defined by the Constitution. Christianity is the largest religion followed by Islam.
