Why not add a Phu Quoc Island extension to your Vietnam holiday?
Phu Quoc Island is a 46km long pear-shaped island located off the south coast of Cambodia and to the south west of Vietnam. Although known as Vietnamese, it is also claimed by Cambodia, who calls it Kho Tral.
This island is rarely on the usual tourist trail so is the perfect way to end a fortnight in Vietnam with a few days of seclusion and relaxation.
Famed, in expat circles, as one of South East Asia’s most beautiful spots, your time on Phu Quoc Island can be spent as you please. Activities such as snorkelling, diving, boating and cuttlefish fishing are on offer as well as tours to the local pearl farm, pepper plantation and fish sauce factory, for which the island is well-known. You can also hire motorbikes and explore the many unspoilt, stunning beaches that the east coast of the island has to offer including Star Beach, Ice cream Beach and Vong Beach.
Accommodation options are growing by the day with developers vying for the best coastal locations and budget to luxury styles are all on offer but do not be fooled, it can still be difficult to get a room in the high season, so book early and do not get your heart set on a particular hotel. Our favourite budget hotel is the Thien Hai Son Resort Phu Quoc, with Chen La Resort and Spa taking the top spot.
There are 4, very convenient, 1 hour flights per day from Ho Chi Minh City or 2 x 3 hour speedboats per day from Rach Gia. Please ask you consultant for details about how to add this gem to your Vietnam holiday.
