Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand, is formerly known as Siam. This country is located at the centre of the Southeast Asian Indochinese Peninsula and encompasses 76 provinces. Thailand is also the world's 50th largest country by total area and the 21st most populous country.

The capital of Thailand is Bangkok, which is the largest city and a special administrative area. Thailand is bordered to the north by Myanmar and Laos, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman Sea

This country is a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy under a military junta. Thailand is classified as a newly industrialised economy and has the second largest economy in Southeast Asia.   • Don't touch Thai people on their heads and be careful where you point your feet.

  • It is a criminal offence to disrespect the royal family in any way.

  • At the beach, public nudity or topless sunbathing is frowned upon.

  • Only eat food that is served piping hot, and avoid salads and peeled fruit.
