Why book the ANZAC Day - 11 Day tour?
This 11-day Small Group tour of Turkey is built around the ANZAC Day commemorations at Gallipoli and takes you across five UNESCO World Heritage sites, from Istanbul's Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia to Troy, Ephesus, Pamukkale and Cappadocia. The group caps at 20 (rising to 45 on ANZAC Day dedicated departures). You spend the night at ANZAC Cove itself on April 24, attending the Dawn Service and the Australian or New Zealand memorial service the following morning. Istanbul to Istanbul, with 4 and 5-star hotels plus the boutique Gamirasu Cave Hotel in Cappadocia.
Is this tour suitable for first-time visitors to Turkey?
Yes. The itinerary covers Turkey's most significant historical and cultural destinations in a logical sequence: Istanbul's Ottoman and Byzantine heritage, the Aegean coast at Kusadasi and Ephesus, the thermal travertines at Pamukkale, the Silk Road at Konya and the extraordinary rock formations of Cappadocia. The ANZAC Day commemoration adds a layer of meaning unavailable on any other Turkey tour.
What is the difference between this and your other ANZAC Turkey tours?
All four ANZAC Day tours share the core Gallipoli commemoration. ANZAC Day - 2 Day (2 days) is Istanbul to Gallipoli and back only. ANZAC Day - 5 Day (5 days) adds Troy and Ephesus. ANZAC Day - 8 Day (8 days) includes Ephesus, Pamukkale and Cappadocia. ANZAC Day - 11 Day (this tour, 11 days) is the most comprehensive, adding Troy, Konya, the Sultanhani Caravanserai, the Mevlana Museum and a full second day in Cappadocia with a drive via Ankara and Ataturk's mausoleum on the return.
When does this tour depart?
This tour is specifically designed around ANZAC Day on April 25. The departure arrives in Istanbul on Day 1 and is timed to reach Gallipoli Cove in the afternoon of April 24, allowing time to visit the museum and secure a position before the overnight vigil. Check the Dates and Prices page for the current departure date.
Why does this tour cost what it does?
We get it, you can find cheaper Turkey tours. But ANZAC Day at Gallipoli is not a year-round experience you can book at any time. Securing accommodation, transport and access for a dedicated ANZAC group requires planning well over a year in advance. The 11-day itinerary also delivers five UNESCO sites, 4 and 5-star hotels, the unique Gamirasu Cave Hotel in Cappadocia, all sightseeing entrance fees and a tipping kitty. You are paying for a once-in-a-lifetime commemorative experience wrapped in one of the most historically rich countries on earth.
What is actually included in the price?
Included: all accommodation, all transport and transfers, arrival and departure airport transfers in Istanbul, services of a local tour leader throughout, entrance fees to all sightseeing included in the itinerary, meals as listed (10 breakfasts, 7 dinners), and a tipping kitty.

This is a moderately active cultural touring holiday. Days involve walking at archaeological sites including Ephesus (ancient paved streets), the Cappadocia underground churches and rock formations, and the travertines at Pamukkale. The ANZAC Cove overnight on April 24 involves spending the night outdoors before the pre-dawn service. No trekking or strenuous hiking is required.
What is the ANZAC Cove overnight experience like?
You arrive at Gallipoli Cove in the afternoon of April 24 to visit the museum and secure a good position. Bring warm layers, a waterproof jacket and comfortable footwear. The experience is deeply moving and the sense of collective remembrance is unlike anything else.
What if I am older than the rest of the group?

The overnight at ANZAC Cove involves standing and sitting outdoors for extended periods in the early hours, which requires reasonable stamina. The sightseeing days are guided at a measured pace. Ephesus has paved but uneven ancient street surfaces. The Cappadocia underground churches involve low passages and narrow staircases. Pamukkale's travertines are slippery. Is Turkey safe to visit?
Turkey's western regions, Istanbul, the Aegean coast, Pamukkale and Cappadocia, which make up this itinerary, are well-established international tourism destinations visited by millions annually.
