This classic 11-night cruise takes you on a journey to one of the World's most inhospitable destinations. Visit the spectacular scenery of this land of snow and ice and experience it unique and enchanting wildlife up close and personal.
Our Antarctic adventure starts in Argentina's southern port town of Ushuaia. After embarking on the m/v Plancius or m/v Ortelius we'll spend the next two days cruising across the Drakes Passage, where we'll have excellent opportunities to see the regions' varied bird life, including albatrosses, Cape pigeons, fulmars and various species of petrel, along with our first glimpse of icebergs. Heading south to the "High Antarctic" we'll spend plenty of time visiting the many islands in search of penguins, seals and various birds before landing in Neko Harbour to set foot on the Antarctic continent and enjoy the majestic scenery of fjords, glaciers and icebergs. There is a unique opportunity here to spend a night camping on the Antarctic Peninsula, an experience not to be missed. All activities such as Zodiak boat trips, shore excursions, kayaking, camping (in Antarctica only), snowshoe/hiking, (ski)mountaineering and photo workshops are included in the price of this tour, however the scuba diving option, where offered, is not included and should be booked in advance.
Sailing on south through the Lemaire Channel, there are plenty of chances to see colonies of penguins and encounter Humpback and Minke whales. Sailing north through Neumayer Channel we'll arrive at the Melchior Islands with a very beautiful landscape and again possibilities for viewing wildlife from the ship's Zodiacs, such as Leopard Seals, Crabeater Seals and whales.
From here we'll cruise back across the Drakes Passage to Ushuaia where our trip ends.
