TOUR REVIEWS

Ant provided excellent service. He always responded as quickly as he could, attending to the questions I had for him. He was also very patient and pleasant. I depended on his knowledge and service to make the trip.
I liked the service and the tour guide & driver on the tour. They were professional and provided very good service. I thought 1-2 hotels on the trip were not quite 4-star. It also happened that this group of people was always late for schedule and our walk pace was too slow. It really needs the guide to make people on schedule and be punctual for the activity. Overall I think the time management of this tour needs improvement.

I liked the fact we were met at the airport and helped thru customs and getting a visa and then upon leaving taken to where we needed to go. Its always tough to figure out where everything is in a foreign airport when you do not travel much
Everything was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and liked that we were interested in what he was telling us. We were lucky to be in a group with like minded people who also wanted to stay in places longer of which our guide accommodated. Only negative thing was the sitting train. Best to just take the flying option. Train was not bad but has no services, no alcohol, and breakfast was all carbs and an egg. Egypt really seems to like their breads and pastries....

Trip booked through Groupon at a Great offer price - Encounters was nothing but professional from the start. I even purchased insurance - extra days and got the best flights from my local airport- Great experience

Encounters Travel did an excellent job in all aspects of our trip! Egypt was amazing and the trip was made especially enjoyable as a result of the quality of the guides. I highly recommend Encounters Travel!
Worth every penny! Go to Egypt with Encounters Travel!

My experience with Encounters was excellent from start to finish. The Tour Guide, Sheriff, was the most passionate, enthusiastic and professional guide I have ever had on a tour and his love for Egypt really made me enjoy my time so much more.
I was cautious about arriving in Egypt given the current circumstances about the country, but felt safer that I did living in London as soon as I arrived. All of the Encounters staff are very professional.

Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country located in Africa. Nairobi is the largest city in Kenya and the capital. The oldest and first capital of Kenya is Mombasa. The territory of Kenya lies on the equator and overlies on the East African Rift. The country is bordered by Tanzania to the south and southwest, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the northwest, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the northeast.

The country's geographical and topographical diversity is characterised by an assortment of climates. These include a humid coastline, temperate savannah grasslands, temperate forested hilly areas in the west and an equatorial climate around Lake Victoria - the world's largest tropical freshwater lake.

The country has a collection of national parks and wildlife reserves, such as Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park, Aberdares National Park, and East and West Tsavo National Park. Kenya is part of the African Great Lakes region, and it has been inhabited by humans since the Lower Paleolithic period. The climate in Kenya differs from tropical by the coast to temperate inland and arid in the north and northeast parts of the country.

In 1963, Kenya gained independence, but it has remained a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The country is divided into 47 semiautonomous counties governed by elected governors. The economy of Kenya is the largest in eastern and central Africa. The capital, Nairobi, is a regional commercial centre. The largest sector in Kenya is agriculture, followed by the service industry and tourism.

Highlights

  • Kakamega Forest – Kenya's only tropical forest, northwest of Nairobi, near the border of Uganda.
  • Nairobi – the capital and the largest city with a national game reserve and Giraffe Centre.
  • Lake Turkana – formerly known as Lake Rudolph, this lake is positioned in the Kenya Rift Valley.
  • Kisite Marine National Park – a marine park off the coast of Wasini, with coral reefs and popular diving spots.
  • Watamu – a small coastal town, north of Mombasa, and home to Watamu Marine National Park.
  • Fort Jesus – a fort on Mombasa Island, built in 1596, to guard the old port of Mombasa.
  • National Museum – positioned at Museum Hill, this museum celebrates Kenya's art, culture and nature.
  • Giraffe Centre – located in Lang'ata, this centre was established to protect the endangered Rothschild giraffe.

Tips

  • Always ask permission before taking photographs of people.
  • Learn some basic phrases of Swahili to interact with the locals.
  • If you are eating at a private home, never handle your food with your left hand.
  • Cotton or linen clothing is recommended for the heat, and layers for cooler evenings.
  • Avoid walking around Nairobi, especially at night – rather take a taxi.
  • Haggling is acceptable in most shops, so it is best to get used to bargaining.
  • When switching currency, do so in a reputable foreign exchange bureau, bank or hotel.
  • Do not display your valuables in crowded areas or on public transport.
