Nepal combines Himalayan views, golden temples, charming hill villages, and jungle wildlife - which is ultimately one of the world's great travel destinations.
The landlocked Asian nation is a paradise for adventurous types, although it also features an abundance of culture with beautiful palaces, temples and shrines adorning the Kathmandu Valley, gorgeous mountain vistas overlooking Pokhara, and national parks rich with wildlife.
These are all just waiting to be discovered on one of our Nepal tours.
Explore the lowlands and sprawling capital city of Kathmandu, soaking in all its historic feel courtesy of the medieval squares and shrines complemented by bustling streets, shops and restaurants.
Whatever you hope to get out of your trip to the country, all our small group tours in Nepal set off from Kathmandu and offer something different.
Sandwiched between China and India, Nepal is one of the most fascinating places to visit on earth, and also one of the best places to explore on a budget - here's why you should book our Nepal on a shoestring tour.
This adventurous 8-day tour gives travellers a great introduction to Nepal - a walking tour to get a feel for the city of Kathmandu, several iconic Hindu & Buddhist temples and stupas, public coach travel between cities for added local flavour and lower cost, wildlife safaris in Chitwan National Park including an elephant ride, jungle walk, boat trip, village walk, and time in the lakeside town of Pokhara at the foot of the Annapurna mountain range.
The tour finishes off in Kathmandu, where a range of additional options can be added for travellers wanting to do more - these can be booked in advance or while in Nepal.
After being welcomed at the Kathmandu airport you will transfer to your hotel in the Thamel tourist district of the city where a rep will help settle you in and familiarise you with the local area.
An evening walk through Thamel to experience numerous local bars, restaurants and nightlife.
The day kicks off with a guided walk from the hotel through small back streets full of tiny shops, workshops, temples, and stupas to Durbar Square where you can experience its wooden and stone carved temples and palaces.
After lunch, we visit the important and contrasting pilgrimage sites of Boudhanath Buddhist stupa and Pasupatinath Hindu temple - Boudhanath has a serene calm to it with many monasteries surrounding it and peaceful music playing whereas Pasupatinath is more chaotic but equally important religiously.
We leave the Kathmandu Valley today and take the tourist bus out on the main road to India through steep-sided hills and valleys.
After a break and a total drive of 6-7 hours, you arrive in the plains that border India and a local transfer to our lodge at Chitwan National Park - after settling in expect to take village walk to learn more about the typical rural village life.
The day is spent exploring Chitwan National Park in search of tigers, rhino and wild elephant. The morning kicks off with a walk through the jungle and a canoe trip. Later you can expect a lifechanging elephant safari - you might even get a chance to bathe with the elephants in the river.
The day starts with bird watching, or you can take another elephant safari into the park - at extra cost - before taking a tourist bus to the lakeside town of Pokhara.
After settling into the hotel in Pokhara, the rest of the day is yours free to relax and explore. A rep will take you on a walk through the Lakeside area which teems with trekking equipment shops, restaurants and bars.
An early start is expected on day 6 of the tour - you will take a trip to the top of the nearby viewpoint at Sarangkot hill.
Here you will experience fantastic morning views of the Annapurna mountain range which may inspire you for some trekking back down the hill to Pokhara - stopping at tea shops and enjoying the views.
The rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy Pokhara. A suggestion will be to take a rowing boat out on the lake or enjoy an optional sightseeing tour.
The tour group will return to Kathmandu on the public tourist coach. Your last night is then free to enjoy the bars and restaurants and shops in Thamel before the tour ends tomorrow.
Alternatively, you can finish the tour in Pokhara today - discounts apply - A local rep will be available to help you with any further activities you may want to do, whether it is trekking in the mountains, try some fun white water rafting or just chill out some more in Pokhara.
Your tour ends after breakfast this morning where you can enjoy some free time until your transfer to the airport.
