Here's a sneak peek at your accommodations:
Freetown, Makeni & Tokeh: Enjoy 2-3 star hotels with private facilities. Makeni is a bit more remote, so expect a simpler setup, but still comfortable.
Takugama, Kabala, Boma Village, Tiwai & Banana Islands: Things get even more exciting here! In Takugama, you'll stay in eco-lodge chalets within the jungle, surrounded by the amazing Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary. In Kabala, it's a local guesthouse with clean, basic comforts. As you trek along the Heritage Trail, you'll spend a night close to Boma Village and one on Tiwai Island, staying in tents or huts for an authentic, nature-immersed experience.
Banana Island: This might be your favorite! Your tent at the Bafa Resort is perched right where the forest meets the shore--a magical place to rest after a day of exploration.
Be aware that in more remote locations, toilet and shower facilities may be communal, and electricity or Wi-Fi might be spotty. But that's all part of the adventure, and we promise it's worth it!
Our Sierra Leone tour mixes things up with a blend of transport options.
Whether by minivan, ferry, or speedboat, each leg of the journey has been planned to give you the best possible experience of the country's stunning scenery.
Sierra Leone offers some delicious local flavors, and we do our best to cater to vegetarians, vegans, and those with food intolerances.
However, if you have specific dietary requirements, we recommend bringing along any essentials you can't live without, especially if you're coeliac or have a severe allergy.
While larger towns and tourist-friendly areas may offer more variety, please note that the understanding of vegetarianism or food allergies is still growing in some parts of the country.
For instance, you may find that 'vegetarian' dishes occasionally come with chicken or fish! But don't worry--our guides will always do their best to communicate your needs.
